Affectionately nicknamed the “Bidgee” by locals, the Murrumbidgee River is the life-blood of the region, being a main source of water for local agriculture as well as at the heart of recreation for both visitors and locals.

Sandy Point offers a lawned area with amenities and great fishing spots, and is a perfect place for a swim or to relax under the shade of the old river red gums.

The Bidgee Riverside trail is a well maintained all-weather track that runs along the Murrumbidgee River towards Sandy Point beach and through Bushy Bend reserve.

As visitors explore the reserve, they will come across the large public sculptures by artists John Wood and John Woodward.
